Innovate-UK funds trial of a HPV educational tool for the Ayana Project

Working in collaboration with LiberatePro, the project will help patients understand HPV testing in a first of its kind trial in 10 Kenyan clinics.

TPN is excited to participate as the lead customer in one of Innovate UK’s Global Innovation Network Lead Customer Programmes, funded by UK International Development.

The programme, currently running in Kenya, focuses on enhancing cervical cancer prevention through innovation in digital health education. Under this initiative, ten select clients of TPN’s Ayana Project are trialling LiberatePro — a digital patient engagement tool developed by Alpha MD.

LiberatePro is designed to support clinicians by helping patients understand medical information through structured, visual, and easy-to-follow content shared before, during, or after consultations. This enables patients to make better-informed decisions about their health, particularly around HPV testing and cervical cancer prevention.

The project is set to run until March 2025 and aims to demonstrate the potential of innovative UK health technology to improve outcomes in African health systems — starting with better communication, improved engagement, and smarter screening.
